(see related)(ANSA) - Rome, May 31 - A Rome mayoral candidate who has a rap sheet for robbery was named as Simone Di Stefano of the extreme-right group CasaPound, sources said Tuesday. He stole a European Union flag after breaking in to EU Rome offices in 2013, and was sentenced to three months in prison and a 100-euro fine. The parliamentary anti-mafia commission, which has been vetting candidates ahead of June 5 local elections across Italy, did not include him on its list of 14 'unpresentables', or people the commission believes to be unfit to seek public office due to their organized crime connections or activities. Another candidate, the commission said, is married to a lawyer who is serving nine years six months for corruption conspiracy and participating in the mafia. Yet another candidate turns out to be related to the Gallace clan of the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta mafia, according to the commission. It did not reveal their names.
