(ANSA) - Rome, May 30 - Virginia Raggi, Rome mayoral candidate for the anti-establishment Five Star Movement (M5S), on Monday outlined her planned executive in the event of winning local elections in June. The 37-year-old frontrunner proposed a team of 10 executive councillors including one, for the reorganisation of public companies, to be nominated on a short-term temporary basis. Other 'new entries' replacing more traditional posts include executive councillors for 'simple Rome', life quality and the city on the move. The team would be the result of "a few unifications and several simplifications for a Rome that is simple and citizen-friendly", Raggi explained in a post on the blog of M5S leader Beppe Grillo. She also announced a culture board made up of "big thinkers in art and show business" to support the new executive councillor for cultural growth.
Raggi is running against centre-left candidate Roberto Giachetti of the Democratic Party (PD), centre-right candidate Alfio Marchini, Giorgia Meloni of the right-wing Brothers of Italy (FdI)and Stefano Fassina of the Italian Left (SI) in first-round elections on June 5, with a second-round ballot scheduled for June 19.
