NATO priority should include terror

'Need diverse innovative solutions' says premier

(ANSA) - Rome, May 24 - NATO's priorities should include not just the eastern front with Russia but also the domestic Islamist terror threat, Premier Matteo Renzi said after meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg. "Although some media and politicians believe in a connection between migration and terrorism, I would like to say that the Brussels and Paris killers did not come from Idomeni (Greek border village where refugees are camping out) but from the French low-income suburbs," Renzi said. We must come up with diverse and innovative defence solutions". Renzi added that the Cold War has been won and NATO must now look to the future. "We need to think about cyber security (and nuclear) proliferation," he said.
NATO's 29 members must use the next summit in Warsaw in July to come up with a new security model, Renzi said. "Italy...is aware that together, we are building hope for the new generations," he said.
