(ANSA) - Matera, May 2 - Premier Matteo Renzi on Monday slammed opposition politicians who berate the fact that terror suspects are being arrested. "A group of magistrates does an extraordinary job, as does law enforcement, intelligence is decisive," he said. "But there's always a politician who says 'they made arrests, something is wrong'. Listen genius, why don't you congratulate those who made the arrests," the premier said. He added "no one can deny something has changed in the past two years. It's the first time a parliament has voted to cut its own seats. And it's not the thing in itself, but the extraordinary message (it sends), that parliament is capable of change," Renzi said of his landmark Constitutional reform law.
The premier spoke during a visit to the southern city of Matera, which is to be European Capital of Culture in 2019.l
