(ANSA) - Rome, April 28 - Interior Minister Angelino Alfano
said Thursday after meeting with Austrian counterpart Wolfgang
Sobotka that Austria supports Italy's migration compact. The
compact proposes to ease the asylum seeker crisis through aid to
Sub-Saharan countries of origin and transit. "Today we obtained
Austria's backing for...our packet of measures, which we will
table at the (next) meeting of EU presidents and heads of
State," Alfano said. He added Austria also agreed with Italy's
position on Libya. "We need to reach an agreement (with Libya)
similar to that between Europe and Turkey (on asylum seekers),"
Alfano said.
