(ANSA) - Brussels, April 19 - The Europran Commission is not
tough enough on Italy as regards budget rules, the EU Audit
Court said Tuesday. Last year, it noted, the EC did not open
infringment proceedings by invoking three "significant factors"
including the economic cycle, low inflation and reforms, "all
debatable because they are not fully compliant with the norms".
The EU Audit Court made the accusation in a report on applying
debt and deficit rules. Italy has obtained some flexibility or
wiggle room on budget parameters because of the migration
crisis.
