Giachetti to get rid of 'problematic'

'If Anti-Mafia Commission says so'

(ANSA) - Rome, April 18 - Democratic Party (PD) Rome mayoral candidate and Deputy House Speaker Roberto Giachetti pledged Monday to get rid of any candidate on his ticket the National Anti-Mafia Commission has a problem with. "If the...Commission says there's a person with a problem...that person will be off the list," said the center-left candidate. " I don't think we will have that problem. I am so certain on this score, I unilaterally said I would submit my list to the Commission, before it made the decision (to scrutinize the Rome election)".
Premier Matteo Renzi's PD will reportedly give Giachetti an electoral list for the June 5 ballot sometime tonight. Giachetti will take 24 hours to review it, then submit it to the Anti-Mafia Commission and post it on the Web on Wednesday.
The Commission said last Wednesday it will monitor electoral lists for upcoming June 5 local elections in towns whose administrations have been dissolved for mafia reasons or that have been commissioned for other reasons. The list of a dozen towns and cities includes Rome, Anti-Mafia Commission Chair Rosy Bindi said.
