(ANSA) - Lampedusa, April 15 - Austria should show a
welcoming face to migrants instead of raising walls against
them, EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini said on a
visit to the Italian island of Lampedusa Friday.
"I hope that Austria doesn't raise walls but shows a
welcoming face, as it did last summer," Mogherini said after
meeting Lampedusa Mayor Giusi Nicolini and visiting the island's
migrant centre.
Austria is building a 250-metre yard wall on its side of
the Brenner Pass border crossing with Italy to keep a feared
influx of thousands of migrants and refugees out.
