(ANSA) - Rome, April 4 - Greenpeace on Monday launched a
video featuring 12 Italian artists in its campaign for a 'yes'
vote on an April 17 anti-offshore drilling referendum.
They include actress Valeria Golino - best known to
English-language audiences for her role in the 1988 film Rain
Man - pop star Noemi, and actor Claudio Santamaria, known abroad
for portraying the terrorist Carlos in the 2006 film Casino
Royale.
The video calls for people to turn out to vote to protect
the sea.
"The contribution of these generous artists is decisive in
piercing the veil of silence that has been cast over the
referendum," said Greenpeace Energy and Climate campaign
director Andrea Boraschi.
"Turning out to defend the sea - one of Italy's greatest
resources - is an act of love towards our land, which we hope
will involve a wide majority of Italians".
A 'yes' vote on the referendum says no to offshore oil and
gas drilling in Italy's seas.
