Renzi says terrorists won't rattle us after Ankara, Ivory Coast attacks

(ANSA) - Rome, March 13 - Italian Premier Matteo Renzi has said that terrorists will intimidate the world after Sunday's attacks in Ivory Coast and Ankara, Turkey. "The terrorists must know that no matter how bloody their hate is, they will not succeed in making us bow down and rattling us, wherever they strike" Renzi said in a statement. "The international community's response and condemnation will be firm, unanimous and resolute".
    Renzi sent Italy's condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyp Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu for the Ankara bomb attack in which 37 people died.
    He also sent a message to Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara after Sunday's gun attack on a beach resort in which at least 16 people died.
    Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni said Monday that instability in Western Africa poses a problem for Italy. "We have to look very closely at the risk of terrorism spreading in Western Africa," he said as he arrived at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels. "In recent months some 70% of the migrants who have arrived in Italy via Libya have come from that region. "So the instability and threats in these countries has consequences for Italy too".
