(ANSA) - Rome, January 12 - The health ministry said Tuesday
it is sending a task force to Cardarelli Hospital in Naples,
where a 20-year-old woman bled to death during an abortion
procedure.
She suffered a haemorrhage during the procedure, hospital
director Franco Paradiso told ANSA, adding that an internal
investigation and autopsy had been ordered.
The woman's relatives have complained to the police.
Paradiso said that procedures appeared to have been
followed correctly, and the woman had also received a
transfusion but she went into hypovolemic shock due to blood
loss.
