(ANSA) - Rome, November 25 - Rome's police headquarters announced on Wednesday that the Department of Public Safety assigned 400 extra police officers to duty for Jubilee Holy Year security, who will have access to 140 external bulletproof vests and 80 so-called "undershirt" bulletproof vests for their work.
Rome police said scheduled equipment checks and tests have been completed (such as those to replace worn-out bulletproof vests) and offices have also been provided extra support resources including 1,868 computers, 123 computer stations and 30 photocopiers. ß Millions of religious pilgrims are expected to flock to Rome and the Vatican for the Jubilee Year, which starts December 8 when Pope Francis will open the Holy Door at St. Peter's Basilica.
