'Not my job to issue Bulgarian edicts'

'Berlusconi is the one who issued such an edict'

(ANSA) - Rome, September 30 - Premier Matteo Renzi told RAI public broadcaster Wednesday that unlike ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi he's not in the business of issuing so-called Bulgarian edicts. "There is no Bulgarian edict," he told TG3 evening news.
"Berlusconi was the one who issued a Bulgarian edict. My job is to govern, not to make lists of prescriptions".
The expression refers to a situation similar to that of 13 years ago, known as the Bulgarian edict, when three popular TV figures - veteran journalist Enzo Biagi, satirist Daniele Luttazzi and TV presenter and journalist Michele Santoro - disappeared from RAI's airwaves in 2002 after being criticised by then premier Berlusconi on a visit to Bulgaria.
