Gattegna condemns Czech refugee branding

(ANSA) - Rome, September 2 - The president of the union of Italian Jewish communities, Renzo Gattegna, on Wednesday condemned the branding of refugees by Czech authorities as reminiscent of the Shoah. "It's a very serious fact", Gattegna said. "Dozens of refugees have been literally branded like cattle going to slaughter, inevitably recalling the darkest period in contemporary history," he said.
    Over the last day Czech police have been forcibly removing Syrian refugees from trains to Germany and numbering the refugees on their forearms.
