Delrio to meet ADR, ENAC on Fiumicino

ADR says record 154,000 passengers transited on Thursday

(ANSA) - Rome, July 31 - Transport Minister Graziano Delrio will meet officials from civil aviation authority ENAC and Rome airport operator ADR on August 4 to discuss the situation at Fiumicino airport after a nearby forest fire and temporary blackout led to scenes of chaos there this week. ENAC said earlier in the day that the crisis was nearly over and operations were returning to normal after delays and cancellations in previous days. But consumer group Codacons said in a statement that passengers were still facing delays and problems when boarding.
The group posted a form on its website www.codacons.it that passengers can use to apply for compensation for delays and cancellations. It has also asked for a meeting with ENAC to discuss the best ways to protect the rights of travellers caught up in the disruptions this week.
Also on Friday, ADR said a record 154,000 passengers transited through Fiumicino yesterday. ADR said the figure supports its claim that the airport is back to full operational status.
That record will likely be beaten at the weekend, ADR said.
