(ANSA) - Rome, July 28 - Teachers in Italy can apply to be
hired under the government's "Good School" reforms until August
14, the education ministry said on Tuesday.
The reforms, approved by parliament earlier this month, are
one of Premier Matteo Renzi's signature revamps and aim to give
thousands of open-ended contracts to teachers.
The ministry said on its website that applications could be
submitted for one of 55,258 positions, including 6,446 support
roles.
It said that in the 2015/2016 school year, the ministry
will hire 102,734 teachers on open-ended contracts, which is
60,000 more than it would have been able to hire without the new
reform law.
The ministry said it had set up a dedicated area on its
website for teachers to find information and documents related
to the procedure.
