INPS to propose basic income benefit for people aged 55-65

'Just 10% likely to find new employment'

(ANSA) - Milan, April 20 - National pensions and social security agency INPS will come up with a proposed basic income benefit for people aged 55-65 who lose their jobs, President Tito Boeri said Monday. "I don't think giving them a welfare check - which won't be much - puts them at risk of not looking for another job," Boeri said.
"These are people who have difficulty finding new employment - just 10% of them do," he said.
INPS will present its proposal in June.
