House Speaker responds to criticism she overstepped mark

(ANSA) - Rome, March 6 - Lower House Speaker Laura Boldrini on Friday defended herself from charges by Premier Matteo Renzi that she had overstepped her institutional role by warning the government not to use decrees to implement a reform of State-broadcaster RAI. Boldrini also caused controversy by criticising the government for not incorporating the non-binding recommendations of a House committee in its Jobs Act labour reform. "Considering it opportune for the committees' opinions to be taken into account and for decrees to be limited to urgent matters does not mean going beyond the institutional perimeter at all," Boldrini told daily newspapers La Stampa and Secolo XIX.
