Quorum not reached in third round of voting for new Italian president

(ANSA) - Rome, January 30 -  The quorum was not reached in Friday's third round of voting for a new Italian president, voiding the vote. 

 Saturday's fourth ballot, when the number of votes needed to elect a new head of State drops to a simple majority of the 1,009 'grand electors', is set to be the crucial test for the candidate of Premier Matteo Renzi's centre-left Democratic Party (PD) - Constitutional Court justice and former minister Sergio Mattarella.
