(ANSA) - Rome, September 30 - Italy's unemployment rate dropped to 12.3% in August, down 0.3% on July and 0.1% on the same month in 2013, national statistics agency Istat said Tuesday. But unemployment among Italian 15-24-year-olds who are on the job market reached a record high of 44.2% last month, up 1% on July and 3.6% on the same month in 2013, Istat said.
Students and young people who are not actively looking for work are not included in the calculation.
