(ANSA) - Rome, September 2 - Premier Matteo Renzi said
Tuesday that his government's school reforms will be presented
Wednesday on the website presenting his 1,000-days of reforms
titled 'Step by step'. The reforms will include selecting
teachers based on merit and not just seniority, as well as
hiring thousands of staff instead of relying on temporary and
"excruciating" substitutions, he said. Italy has 600,800
full-time teachers, while another 154,000 work as temps.
