(ANSA) - Rome, September 2 - Forza Italia, the opposition
party led by Silvio Berlusconi, said Tuesday it would request
the seizure of a film offering a negative portrayal of the
three-time premier and his 20 years in power that was met by
laughter and applause at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday.
"I think it is necessary to act in this way when things go
beyond criticism, beyond satire," said FI Senator Lucio Malan of
Franco Maresco's Belluscone - Una Storia Siciliana (Belluscone -
A Sicilian Story) that was screened in the section 'Horizons'.
The feature-length movie by the Palermo director recounts
the Berlusconi era from the point of view of one of the media
magnate's staunchest support bases, Sicily.
"Here there is absolutely no satire: unfortunately there is
little to laugh about," Malan continued.
"Instead there is an attack on a person, on a whole part of
the country, on a political movement" that must be defended, he
said.
