(ANSA) - Venice, September 19 - Venice is mulling banning tourists from sitting or lying down in squares and on church steps, either to rest or to have snacks.
An ordnance now before the city council would hand out fines of 50 to 500 euros.
In particularly serious cases of offending the city's "decorum", tourists would be expelled from the lagoon city and barred from ever returning, sources said.
