(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 17 - Italian food sovereignty is not autarky, a term associated with Mussolini's policy of pursuing economic self-sufficiency, Agriculture and Food Sovereignty Minister Francesco Lollobrigida told the Senate Thursday.
"Food sovereignty is not autarchy, but the defence of our production in the global market. Even in Macron's France there is (a ministry for) 'food sovereignty'," Lollobrigida said at question tie in the Upper House.
"We want to ensure supplies to our country'.
"This has precise effects in the daily lives of citizens," he added, "and emphasises the need to initiate once and for all new virtuous practices: producing according to parameters of respect for the world of work, the environment and quality". (ANSA).
