Milk price may go above 2 euros a litre-Granarolo-Lactalis

(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 1 - The price of milk may rise above two euros a litre amid the cost of living crisis and the energy emergency, producers Granarolo and Lactalis said in a joint statement Thursday.
    They said that would be an "unthinkable" price for such an essential staple for Italians.
    The two companies voiced "strong concern over a galloping inflation that has hit the Italian agri-food industry for 12 months and in particular the dairy and cheese sector.
    "We need public intervention to avert even more disastrous consequences for the thousands of firms that make up the production and supply chain". (ANSA).
