(ANSA) - Milan, May 14 - Expo is registering extraordinary success with the public, with about 150,000 visitors a day and peaks of 200,000 per day on weekends, Italian food-producers federation Federalimentare said Thursday. The organization is behind the Expo 2015 pavilion "Cibus is Italy", in collaboration with Italy's top food trade fair, Cibus, which is held every two years in Parma.
Federalimentare and the Fiere di Parma trade-fair centre decided to be present together at Expo because they consider it a unique opportunity. And with "Cibus is Italy", they have set up a pavilion showcasing quality Italian food.
The pavilion tells the story and the production techniques of the most famous 'made-in-Italy' food products via "ad hoc" itineraries: pasta, cheese, salami, olive oil, desserts and much besides, "narrated" through their traditions and through the farming and industrial techniques today followed to produce and package them.
So the "Cibus is Italy" pavilion can boast a varied, complete, unique exhibition and is able to present to visitors, in a short time, the traditions and secrets of Italian food production. On the third floor of the pavilion, the large "Cibus is Italy" plays host to professional meetings and conferences. On May 6, 35 buyers from Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Canada met Italian companies exhibiting there. More than 400 production activities from 44 different countries are expected to be featured in the six-month Expo period.
"Cibus is Italy" is also involved in a series of off-site meetings, organized by the magazine "Inside", the leading publication for Milan design fair Salone Internazionale del Mobile. A series of meetings entitled "Design meets Food - Milan meets the World" is being held in the flagship Milanese stores it is possible to meet designers, chefs and exhibitors.
