(ANSA) - Milan, April 30 - Italian Premier Matteo Renzi was expected Thursday evening to attend the inauguration of "Silos Armani," a museum of the dazzling Milanese fashion house, in a ceremony that also heralds the official opening of Expo 2015.
Designer Giorgio Armani disclosed Thursday morning at a press preview of the museum in via Bergognone that Renzi and his wife Agnese were to attend the opening, which will feature a fashion show of his creations, together with Milan Mayor Giuliano Pisapia, a constellation of Hollywood stars and the Expo Commissar Giuseppe Sala.
"Milan has been enriched by a space that was not here before with dimensions and availability that couldn't have been dreamed of, an open space," Armani said.
Asked if the Silos could be considered a gift to the city of Milan, Armani quipped "Of course, but the clothes are mine".
The 4,500 square metre space will not only be used for fashion shows, Armani said.
"These premises can be adapted for exhibits of other kinds, from painting to sculpture and photography. Certainly any project, in order to be considered, must be close to my spirit," the designer added.
Armani said he also will attend the Expo inaugural ceremony Friday evening but will keep a relatively low profile.
"They wanted me on the stage but I said 'I make clothes, I am not one of the powers-that-be".
