(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 19 - Italian singer-songwriter Tiziano Ferro is divorcing his husband, former Warner Bros.
consultant Victor Allen, with whom he has two children, the singer told his millions of fans in and out of Italy on Tuesday.
"The painful separation from Victor has been ongoing for some time," said the 43-year-old from Latina south of Rome, who came out as gay at the height of his success in 2010 and had the two kids, a girl and a boy, with Allen last year.
"Now all I'm thinking about is the welfare of my children," said Ferro, who had highly publicised battles with depression and overweight in his late teens and early adulthood.
Ferro and Allen, 58, got married in dual ceremonies in Los Angeles and Sabaudia, a beach resort near Latina, in May and July 2019.They announced the arrival of Margherita and Andres, then nine and four months old, in February 2022.Ferro, who is about to publish his first novel with Mondadori, said he was sorry not to be able to bring his kids back to Italy from LA "for the moment".Italy's rightwing government is set to make surrogacy, through which the children were born, a "universal crime".
