Great actress to receive Italian Oscar for lifetime achievement

(ANSA) - ROME, APR 20 - Italian actress Giovanna Ralli will get the David di Donatello award for career achievement at the 67th edition of the Italian Oscars on May 3, the president of the Italian cinema academy - David prizes, Piera Detassis, announced Wednesday.
    The prize-giving will be broadcast live from Cinecittà by Rai state broadcaster.
    Detassis said Ralli, 87, "in the course of a multi-faceted career, put her verve and dramatic impetus at the service of great auteurs like Mario Monicelli, Ettore Scola, Roberto Rossellini, and Vittorio De Sica, flanking legendary partners like (Ugo) Tognazzi, Totò, Vittorio Gassman, (Marcello) Mastroianni and (Alberto) Sordi.
    "The high points of her filmography, which started with Aldo Fabrizi, are La vita agra by Carlo Lizzani, the immortal character of Elide Catenacci in C'eravamo tanto amati, the Hollywood films of Blake Edwards, and the scandalous role of a lesbian, alongside Anouk Aimée, in La fuga by Paolo Spinola, performed with courage in 1964.
    "Ralli has been many women and many protagonists, combing refined beauty and Trasteverine tradition, brio and modern maliaise.
    "This Career David celebrates her return to cinema in Marcel!, the keenly awaited directorial debut of Jasmine Trinca. (ANSA).
