Expo 2020: Emilia Romagna showcases Italian illustrators

Exhibit shines spotlight on new generation of artists

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 17 - The Emilia Romagna region has put on an exhibition at the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2020 that celebrates Italian talent and excellence in the field of illustration and promotes the nation's culture industry in the process.
    The show, entitled 'Italian Excellence. The New Generation of Italian illustrators for Children,' runs until January 22 after which it will be hosted at the Italian Institute of Culture in Abu Dhabi in the autumn as part of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF).
    The exhibition, organized by the ATER Fondazione, the Bologna Children's Book Fair/Bologna Fiere with the Italian foreign ministry, presents the works of 20 young Italian illustrators, some of them born or working in the Emilia-Romagna Region, who stand out for their ability to make texts dialogue with images in a unique and original form: Giacomo Agnello Modica, Andrea Antinori, Michael Bardeggia, Beatrice Cerocchi, Marianna Coppo, Francesca Corso, Cecilia Ferri, Chiara Ficarelli, Marta Pantaleo, Giulia Pastorino, Irene Penazzi, Alice Piaggio, Camilla Pintonato, Michelangelo Rossato, Veronica Ruffato, Lorenzo Sangió, Francesca Sanna, Luca Tagliafico, Giulia Tomai, Veronica Truttero.
    It features books, posters and magazines to offer a surprising gaze into the universe of children's publishing.
    "Promoting the cultural and creative industry is something very dear to us and we believe in it a great deal, in part for future jobs," said Ruben Sacerdoti, the Director of Emilia-Romagna's Department for the Business Internationalization and FDI Attraction "It is a highly important show for us that presents young artists and young illustrators.
    "It is a show that puts together a component that we care a great deal about, that of seeing culture as a creative industry that is positioned within many of our region's sectors". (ANSA).
