(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 8 - Mick Jagger 'crowned' Maneskin as the kings of European rock after the Eurovision winners supported the Rolling Stones in Las Vegas at the weekend.
Coming onto the stage after a belting show from the Roman rockers, the veteran star said, in Italian, "Grazie mille ragazzi!".
It was the icing on the cake of the first US tour by the Italian band after triumphant sets in New York and Los Angeles, heralded by an appearance on the iconic Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
"What an evening. Thanks to the Rolling Stones, the best memory ever," said the foursome after the concert next to a photo of them with a smiling Jagger.
Maneskin opened their show with their single Nel nome del Padre and their Eurovision winner Zitti e Buoni, and followed them up with a dozen tracks by the four - Damiano, Victoria, Thomas and Ethan - wearing star-spangled costumes.
Then their cover of the Four Season's 60s hit Beggin', which has taken the US charts by storm, sent the crowd even wilder.
They closed the set with a classic by their idol and mentor Iggy Pop, I Wannna Be Your Dog and then Wanna Be Your Slave - as lead singer Damiano said, "our favourite song".
Social media buzzed with praise for the four young people from the Roman quarter of Monteverde: "Amazing boys!", "They were great, frantastic, they give off positive energy", "I like how they fuse rock, funk and R&B" and even one fan who said "I came for the Rolling Stones, but I discovered I was here for the Maneskin guitarist!".
Now an Italian tour awaits, culminating at the Circus Maximuns in Rome in July, before flying to the Lollapalooza Festival in Paris.
And then, who knows, their first Coast to Coast American tour? (ANSA).
