(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 3 - The Italy Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai
made a piece of history at the weekend by hosting a Forum of the
European Capitals of Culture outside Europe for the first time.
The event was staged as part of the week the Word Fair devoted
to urban and rural development and visions of how humanity can
live in a environmentally sustainable way.
Among other things, the meeting shone the spotlight on the
contribution of the Capitals of Culture to the 'New European
Bauhaus', an initiative launched by the European Commission to
imagine and build sustainable and accessible places that are
"beautiful for our eyes, minds, and souls".
Inspired by the Bauhaus movement, it fosters cooperation between
thinkers and doers aimed at redesigning our cities.
"It is a historic day because for the first time we are having a
meeting of the European Capitals of Culture outside Europe,"
said Paolo Glisenti, the Commissioner for Italy's participation
at Expo 2020. (ANSA).
