(ANSA) - Rome, February 6 - Rome prosecutors on Wednesday asked to shelve an investigation into the arrival at the capital's Ciampino airport of ex-terrorist Cesare Battisti in which Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini and Justice Minister Alfonso Bonafede were accused of failing to protect the dignity of a detained person.
The ministers were accused of exploiting for political purposes the arrival on January 15 of Battisti, who was extradited from Brazil.
One of the issues at the center of the investigation, which was denounced by the Chamber representing criminal attorneys in Rome, was a controversial video posted to Facebook by the justice minister showing police taking mug shots of Battisti and his fingerprints.
