(ANSA) - Turin, October 5 - Lawyer Giulio Biino is the new president of the Turin Book Fair, replacing former culture minister Massimo Bray who stepped down last month.
Announcing Biino's appointment, Piedmont Governor Sergio Chiamparino thanked him for the "important competence he has decided to put at the service of this regional institution".
Chiamparino said "we are sure he will achieve excellent team work with the other organs of the foundation".
The head of Turin's notaries public and a noted bibliophile, Biino is set to take over shortly, Chiamparino and regional culture pointwoman Antonella Parigi said.
They said "this appointment contributes in a decisive way to the definition of the foundation's ruling set-up, also in the light of the activities that will be developed to promote books and reading".
Still the largest book fair in Italy despite the rivalry of an upstart Milan event, the Turin Book Fair ruins each May in the northwestern Italian city.
