(ANSA) - Rome, August 23 - This autumn's TV lineup in Italy
will see the Netflix original series production of a
small-screen version of the popular film Suburra starting
October 6, the third season of Gomorra starting in November, and
much more from RAI, Mediaset, Sky, Fox, and TimVision.
On September 4, the fourth and final season of Black Sails
begins on Sky Atlantic, while the original Sky production Tin
Star, with Tim Roth and Christina Hendricks, starts on September
12.
Another new series coming in October on Sky Atlantic is The
Deuce.
The series tells the story of when pornography was legalized
in New York in the 1970s, and is by David Simon, creator of The
Wire. It stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Franco, who play
twins.
Another series in November, Babylon Berlin, is an original
Sky production set in Berlin in the 1920s, in an atmosphere that
divides its time between the richness of the art world and the
struggle of hunger and unemployment.
A small jewel, The Handmaid's Tale, will be on TimVision
starting in September.
The American series received 13 Emmy nominations and is based
on the eponymous Margaret Atwood novel.
Starring Elisabeth Moss, the show is set in a dystopic future
America under a theocratic dictatorship where women of
childbearing age are used as reproductive vehicles.
On Netflix, Star Trek: Discovery is back starting on
September 25.
The Walking Dead 8, The Inhumans from ABC, and The Gifted
will be on air in Italy in October on Fox.
The seventh season of American Horror Story will hit Fox in
October, under the title "Cult", with a plot that ties into last
year's US presidential elections.
RAI 1 will feature new projects including Romanzo Famigliare,
a story that portrays the contemporary Italian family as well as
that of the past, with Livorno as its backdrop.
The corn fields and cow farms of Piedmont will feature in RAI
1's La Strada di Casa, the story of farmer and family patriarch
Fausto Morra, played by Alessio Boni.
On Mediaset, L'Isola di Pietro marks singer Gianni Morandi's
return to acting.
