Virzì, Bellocchio, Giovannesi at Cannes

(ANSA) - Rome, April 19 - No Italian is in the running for the Palme d'Or but three are in competition in the Quinzaine des Realizateurs section, sources said Tuesday: Marco Bellocchio with 'Fai bei sogni', chosen as opening film, Paolo Virzì with 'La pazza gioia' and Claudio Giovannesi with 'Fiore'. Virzì's film stars Micaela Ramazzotti and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Bellocchio is based on Massimo Gramellini's novel and the film by Giovannesi (of 'Alì ha gli occhi azzurri' fame) is a love story through prison bars.
