9 films vie for Italy's Oscar submission

Selection committee to decide September 28

(ANSA) - Rome, September 21 - Nine films will compete to represent Italy for a chance at a 2016 Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, said the Italian National Association of Film, Audiovisual and Multimedia Industries (ANICA) on Monday.
    The nine films that the selection committee will consider are: Leopardi (Il Giovane Favoloso), directed by Mario Martone; Latin Lover, directed by Cristina Comencini; The Wait (L'Attesa), directed by Piero Messina; My Mother (Mia Madre), directed by Nanni Moretti; You Can't Save Yourself Alone (Nessuno Si Salva da Solo), directed by Sergio Castellitto; Non Essere Cattivo, directed by Claudio Caligari; Per Amor Vostro, directed by Giuseppe M. Gaudino; Blood of My Blood (Sangue del Mio Sangue), directed by Marco Bellocchio; and Sworn Virgin (Vergine Giurata), directed by Laura Bispuri.
    The films were distributed in Italy between October 1, 2014 and September 30, 2015.
    ANICA's selection committee is expected to announce the film to be entered into the Oscar nomination competition on September 28.
    Oscar nominations will be announced January 14, 2016 and the awards ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on February 28, 2016.
