(ANSA) - Milan, August 31 - The "School Project" was back at Expo on Monday - an Education Ministry initiative in collaboration with Expo and the Italy Pavilion to promote the Expo theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life".
School Project has offered various student and teacher contests to create projects that promote healthy and environmentally-friendly lifestyles through the conscious and responsible use of resources.
The educational project, which began in December 2013, also has a didactic activities plan that encourages classes who have already visited to return to Expo for a second visit, and reservations can be made online.
Expo said already over one million student tickets have been sold, and more than 170 universities that have taken part in the "Universities in Expo" initiative, in which tickets for university students are just 10 euros.
"We're very satisfied with the success that School Project has had up to now," said Expo Commissioner Giuseppe Sala.
"With September a new season of participation is starting.
Many institutions have already booked their visit. It's an important sign and valuable recognition for us," Sala said.
"School participation in Expo represents a success thanks to work that started far before the opening of Expo," said Education Minister Stefania Giannini. "With the start of the new school year, we'll also send out new dietary guidelines that will bring forward the legacy of Expo together with the Children's Milan Charter," Giannini said.
