(ANSA) - Milan, June 30 - A preliminary hearings judge in Milan on Tuesday approved a plea bargain for a 14-month suspended sentence for Italian rock star Gianna Nannini for alleged tax evasion of 3.75 million euros.
The singer has reportedly already paid off her debt with the Italian taxman.
Nannini's lawyer Giulia Bongiorno said the plea bargain brought to a close a "painful legal chapter", while at the same time reaffirming "the absolute transparency" of her client's behaviour. "The charges refer exclusively to the operations of third parties in whom she had unlimited and yet misplaced trust," Bongiorno said.
