(ANSA) - Bologna, March 2 - A host of well-known stars of Italian music and public life will visit Bologna to speak and perform starting Monday at an exclusive three-day opening of the home of the late iconic singer-songwriter Lucio Dalla on Via D'Azeglio, ANSA sources said.
Dalla was born on March 4, 1943, and would have been 72 this year.
He died of a heart attack on March 1, 2012, in Montreaux, Switzerland, just three days before his 69th birthday.
His home went unsold at auction and is now set to become a museum with the support of the Ministry of Culture, with the opening tentatively expected around the end of 2015.
The three-day event will host Italian musical artists including Samuele Bersani, Ornella Vanoni, Gigi D'Alessio and Renzo Arbore, along with former Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni, Culture Minister Dario Francheschini, and Bologna Mayor Virginia Merola.
Public access has been granted only to the holders of 622 tickets that went on sale February 25 and sold out in three hours.
In a speech during the opening of the event on Monday, Italy's culture minister said Dalla's lyrics should be taught in Italian schools.
"These lyrics are formidable even without music. I think it's time to teach them in the schools," Franceschini said.
