(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 21 - Teachers at a school near Milan which decided to give its 40% Muslim students the day off at the end of Ramadan on April 10 said Thursday they felt they had been attacked by the State after the head teacher was ordered to reconsider the decision.
"As school workers we feel offended and mistreated, our values and dignity are trampled on these days," said the almost 250 staff of the Pioltello institute.
"'Whoever attacks a school employee attacks the State' said (Education) Minister (Giuseppe) Valditara a short time ago, but for days we have been feeling attacked and unprotected by the wave of hatred generated in the press and on social media, even by political exponents".
They voiced "indignation at the instrumentalisation" of the decision to close the school on 10 April. (ANSA).
