29 held for Camorra drug trafficking, also by submarine

Ex aide to Imperiale nabbed, drugs also destined for Caivano

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 16 - Italian police on Tuesday arrested 29 people as they busted two narco gangs affiliated with the Neapolitan Camorra mafia that imported huge amounts of cocaine from South America to Italy via the Netherlands and Spain, also by submarine from Panama.
Among those arrested, in Dubai, was Bruno Carbone, a close aide of notorious Camorra narco trafficker Raffaele Imperiale, who was also captured in Dubai in 2021.
Carbone, like Imperiale, has already decided to turn state's evidence and become a pentito or informant.
One of the gang members, an Albanian, was intercepted saying "containers are very safe but the only 100% sure way of getting the stuff in is by submarine".
The two gangs also used ambulances for ferying their product around the Naples area.
The cocaine was distributed in the Naples area including Caivano, a Camorra-ridden town now the subject of a high-profile government-led clean-up after it claimed headlines for the alleged teen gang rape of two cousins aged 10 and 12.
The Naples Mob often uses kids as drug runners or lookouts.
