(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 5 - Mountain rescuers intervened on Saturday night to rescue a group of migrants stuck in snow in the upper Susa valley while trying to cross into France on foot.
The group of seven men and two women was located at an altitude of 2,350 metres in an area below Mount la Plane in the Alpine town of Claviere in Piemonte.
One of the women was suffering from hypothermia.
Rescuers accompanied the group down the mountain to Claviere, where the woman suffering from hypothermia was taken to hospital and the other people entrusted to the Italian Red Cross.
Migrants and refugees arriving in or transiting through Italy frequently brave the treacherous Alpine crossing into France on their journey north.
