(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 30 - An 'Ndrangheta cold-case murder has been solved after 23 years and three suspected members of the Calabria-based mafia, Italy's richest, most powerful and dangerous criminal organization, have now been arrested, authorities said Wednesday.
The three suspects, who were not named, were identified on new DNA analysis and have been charged with the homicide, aggravated by mafia methods, of 34-year-old Giuseppe Castiglione, a member of the Giglio-Levato-Valente clan, on January 29 2000 at Strongoli near Crotone.
As well as the DNA, police relied on testimony from informants, one of them one of the alleged killers who has since turned State's evidence.
The murder was part of a turf war between warring 'Ndrangteta clans, police said.
'Ndrangheta controls much of Europe's cocaine trade. (ANSA).
