(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 30 - A 17-year-old Italian girl on
Wednesday told police she had been raped by a a local artisan at
Valguarnera, a small town near Enna in central Sicily, judicial
sources said.
It is the latest in a seeming spate of rape cases in Italy.
Prosecutors in Enna have opened a probe and have activated the
Code Red procedure for rape victims.
Police have said strict discretion on the case will be observed.
Italy has been shocked by recent alleged gang rapes of teenage
girls in Palermo and at Caivano near Naples. (ANSA).
