(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 30 - The mother of one of two cousins allegedly raped by six youths last month in the town of Caivano, near Naples, said Wednesday that they have been subject to threats and acts of intimidation.
The case, and that of an alleged gang rape in Palermo, has reignited alarm about sexual violence in Italy and Premier Giorgia Meloni will visit Caivano, which is badly affected by crime and drug dealing, on Thursday.
"We are suffering threats from (people in) the neighbourhood," said the mother of a 12-year-old who was one of girls allegedly raped via the family's lawyer Angelo Pisani.
"They even robbed my son, the one who denounced the horrors," she added, referring to the theft of a scooter.
    "I don't feel safe.
"I need to talk to President Meloni. I want to talk to her".
Meloni said Monday she would visit the town, saying there could no longer be any zones in Italy that were free for criminals to act in. (ANSA).
