(see related) (ANSA) - ROME, MAY 29 - The stabbing incident at a school near Milan on Monday morning should invite reflection on the need for psychologists in schools, Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara said in a social video after visiting the injured teacher in hospital.
"I wanted to express my solidarity and that of the entire government with the attacked teacher, who did her duty in an exemplary way towards a boy who had already had some problems in the past," said Valditara.
"I want us to take the opportunity to reflect on the introduction of psychologists at school. It is a particularly difficult time, the uneasiness experienced by young people, also as a result of Covid, has greatly increased," added the minister.
Earlier on Monday Valditara said he would visit the injured teacher in the town of Abbiategrasso after she was attacked by a 16-year-old male pupil with a knife.
He described the incident as "particularly disturbing". (ANSA).
