(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 27 - Police are investigating after protestors claiming to belong to the 'Tyre Extinguishers' international direct-action climate group deflated the tyres of several SUV cars in the Saragozza area of Bologna over the last few days.
"Attention, we have deflated a tyre of your SUV," read a statement left on the car's windscreens.
    "You'll get angry, we know.
"We don't have a problem with you, but with your SUV.
"Our aim is to make it impossible to own a huge polluting 4x4 in the world's urban areas.
"We are defending ourselves against climate change, air pollution and unsafe drivers".
Bologna Police Chief Isabella Fusiello said the DIGOS special unit was at work to establish if the stunt was linked to the Tyre Extinguishers environmental movement or was done by "some local buffoon".
She added that the police have clues about who might have been behind the action. (ANSA).
