(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 3 - A man is seeking compensation after having his penis amputated in an unnecessary surgical operation in 2018, the Corriere di Arezzo reported Friday.
His urologist faces charges of grievous bodily harm.
The man, now 68, was thought to be suffering from cancer, although the diagnosis was subsequently disproved by the results of the histological examination carried out after the procedure.
It turns out he had a form of syphilis that could have been treated with medication.
The case is now before the preliminary hearings judge. (ANSA).
