(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 15 - Health Minister Orazio Schillaci said Tuesday that the government was revising the quarantine rules for people who contract COVID-19 and the obligation to have a test at the end of a period of self-isolation may be scrapped.
"We are working on (the) quarantine (rules), above all to ensure that asymptomatic positive patients can return (from self-isolation) earlier," he said.
"Soon we will make an announcement on this and the final swab may be eliminated too".
At the moment people who test positive for the coronavirus must go into quarantine for at least five days.
They can come out of quarantine after five days if they are asymptomatic and have had a negative test.
People can come out of quarantine after 14 days even if they do not test negative. (ANSA).
